The Sloan Insurance Agency began in 1928 as a partnership called Pearce and Sloan. Later, the name was changed to Sloan Insurance and was operated solely by Alan Sloan.
In the mid-50's, Alan's son, Richard, joined the agency. Richard (Dick) and his wife Winnie ran the agency until 1996, when they sold the agency to the current owners, Larry Mawhorr and Marsha Young.
Throughout the years, the agency has had a strong tradition of excellent customer service, strong companies and professional development of the owners and staff to provide the proper coverage at the best value.
The Sloan Insurance Agency handles auto, home, business, commercial, special events, farm, life, health and disability insurance.
Sloan Insurance is an Ohio Corporation ( M.Y. Insurance Agency, Inc., dba Sloan Insurance Agency) licensed by the Ohio Department of Insurance for property/casualty and life/health insurance.
North Lewisburg, OH Office
In February of 2000, the Sloan Insurance Agency expanded its operations by acquiring the majority of Summerfield Insurance in North Lewisburg, Ohio. With a close proximity to the Honda plants, North Lewisburg and the surrounding community has a strong growing population, that we wanted the opportunity to service.
The North Lewisburg Office is located at 20 E. Maple Street and is known as Summerfield and Sloan Insurance. Frank Summerfield is still active with the agency and operates a separate agency within the same office that specializes in farms - included crop insurance, life, health and financial services.
Summerfield and Sloan has two full time customer service agents, Joanne Fullenkamp and Amy Longberry. Both individuals have lived in the community for over 20 years, and Joanne worked in the Summerfield Agency, prior to our purchase.
